WORSHIP AND FELLOWSHIP TIMES

 Bible Study and Worship are a very important part of the BEST CENTER.  After all BEST stands for "Bible, Education, Study, Training" Center.  All of the students have Bible Classes 2 hours per day with their Khmer teachers.  They study through the entire Bible during their 4 years at the Center and go home with Notebooks that they can use later.   Each Thursday evening the christians in the area are invited to dinner together followed by a singing period.  Once per month they turn part of that into prayer time together in groups.  On Sunday evening there is a worship time together with class study, followed by worship time with communion, singing and a Bible lesson. Sundays mornings we worship at the Phnom Penh Congregation about a half mile from the BEST Center and meet other Christians.    While the University Education is important to the students at the BEST CENTER, their Bible study is high on the priority list.  There i...

VISIT TO BANGKOK, THAILAND

The Watcherapon Church of Christ meets in Bangkok, Thailand.  Tom and I taught at this location using the Let's Start Talking program about 10 years ago.  The congregation has grown since then, but we recognized many of the members.  As we arrived for Bible Class we could see some changes.  Instead of stacking, movable chairs they now have pews.  They have also added more technology. As worship began, so did the numbers in attendance.  We were provided with earphones and a translator so that we could understand the lessons.  We also were provided with English Hymnals and could sing along with them on many of the songs.  They were also on the big screen in English and Khmer language.  That was nice.   If you look at the side walls you will see covered sliding glass doors.  The sides of this building were open air when we were here before.  We had heard about these changes and were impressed. MEAL TIME AT THE BEST CENTER

Meal time at the Best Center is a group activity.  All students and staff are expected to join the group.  It is a time for announcements and conversations together.  Tom and I enjoy that time as well.  We get to know our students better and they are good to speak English with us, although for some it is a challenge.  Meals are always served buffet style and we use these bowls and a tablespoon (as I would call it in the US).  Rice is always on the menu usually served with soup, stir fry vegetables (with a little meat), fresh vegetables and sometimes fresh fruit.  The menu varies but these are the primary ingredients.  On special meals we are served whole pieces of chicken or fish which has been fried and is delicious.  Avy is our excellent cook.  We enjoy our meals here.
