VISIT TO BANGKOK, THAILAND

The Watcherapon Church of Christ meets in Bangkok, Thailand.  Tom and I taught at this location using the Let's Start Talking program about 10 years ago.  The congregation has grown since then, but we recognized many of the members.  As we arrived for Bible Class we could see some changes.  Instead of stacking, movable chairs they now have pews.  They have also added more technology.

As worship began, so did the numbers in attendance.  We were provided with earphones and a translator so that we could understand the lessons.  We also were provided with English Hymnals and could sing along with them on many of the songs.  They were also on the big screen in English and Khmer language.  That was nice.
If you look at the side walls you will see covered sliding glass doors.  The sides of this building were open air when we were here before.  We had heard about these changes and were impressed.
Surrounding the outside the auditorium is a wide walkway which is over water, as is the building.  This area is used for visiting, studying, etc.  Following the morning service Ann (who is also our interpreter) studies Bible in English with some of the Ramkamhaeng students who also study at the Ramkamhaeng Christian Center (RCC).  The church family here works to build relationships with these university students and it is working.  We renewed friendships with a couple of students that were surfaced while we were studying at RCC on our second trip to Bangkok.

We were not the only foreigners in attendance and we were welcomed warmly.
As you can see, there was quite a variety of food available at the potluck which followed services.  Casseroles, fried chicken, soup, vegetable platters, and fruit for dessert.  And of course Rice was first on everyone's plate.  There were even a few other selections available that are not out on the table yet.  The huge rice cooker is not there yet either.  We enjoyed the meal and the fellowship,  They had recently purchased new tables and chairs for the fellowships.  This is all open air.
